Brazil and abroad. The choreographer combines contemporary dance with popular movement cultures such as couple dance,
samba or capoeira, as well as performance art and elements of pop-culture and feminist art.
In many of her previous works she negotiated omnipresent Western female body images and ideals, which she opposes with her own, humorous, sensual and provocative aesthetics. Since 2018, Rossi focusses her artistic work on the production of performances and teaching of dance and performance strategies for children and young audiences.

DANCE MACHINES is a multimedia experience, in which the analogue and virtual worlds exchange and collaborate. Using tools such as VR glasses and headphones,
participants as young as 11 can experience what the dance lessons of the future might look like. Two professional dancers‘ galactic and utopian avatars interact with one half of the audience in
the virtual world, while live performers invite the other half into a choreographic-auditory realm of observation. In this experiment, situated somewhere between an immersive dance experience and
choreography, new ways of thinking about dance are presented: seeing dance is simultaneously learning, experiencing and feeling dance.
In addition, DANCE MACHINES explores the boundaries of the virtual space through analogue bodies: encounters in the virtual world mirror those in the analog world. While virtual reality experiences typically enable individual experiences, DANCE MACHINES is about a collective experience: with the new HTC VIVE Focus 3 glasses, the artistic team of DANCE MACHINES has created an application that enables people to meet in a hybrid analog-digital space. DANCE MACHINES creates a collaborative multimedia movement experience that allows us to consider how empowering experiences in the present can enrich our vision of the future.
DANCE MACHINES is a production by Regina Rossi in coproduction mit K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg. Funded by: Hamburg Authority for Culture and Media, Performing Arts Fund with funds from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.

DU BIST DRAN! is a quartet for four performers and an audience. This dance performance for all ages 11 and up mixes elements of dance, improvisation and audience participation in a new way: the audience takes a turn, watches, answers questions and has to decide which side they are on at the end. Brazilian choreographer Regina Rossi’s new piece, inspired by competitions with a show-like character, mixes games and rules in a humorous way. Mass entertainment, wild spectacle and top performances go hand in hand to create an intense challenge on stage. The players push themselves to the higher-faster-further limit, isolating themselves from each other
– at all costs! In order to win, they not only play fair, but also bend the rules from time to time. But what are these rules and who makes them? And above all, what is left over when the competition is over? DU BIST DRAN! is an invitation to pure entertainment and at the same time a reminder that we are never alone in a game…
DU BIST DRAN! is a production by Regina Rossi Tanzproduktionen in co-production with K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg. Funded by Behörde für Kultur und Medien Hamburg and Fonds Darstellende Künste aus Mitteln der Beauftragten der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien.
